Artichokes are glossy, green and round, and tender with a sweet mild flavour. A very productive plant with excellent uniformity and more tolerance of cool weather. A relative of the thistle family, the plant produces a stunning blue/purple flower head and can grow to over a metre in height. Artichokes grow very slowly so be patient and thin out the weaker shoots as they grow so you’re left with the strongest heads. They’re also perennials and will continue to grow for 3-4 years.
