At Quality Plants & Seedlings, we take extra care to make sure your seedlings arrive healthy, fresh, and ready to thrive. Because we’re sending live plants, a few important postage policies apply.


Why Express Post for Live Plants?

  • Faster delivery minimises stress on living plants.
  • Higher survival rates—less time in transit, better condition on arrival.
  • Reliability—your order moves quickly through the network.

Regular post risks delays that can leave plants in boxes too long and arrive damaged. We only use Express for live plants to protect quality.


Why Does Postage Cost More?

  1. Specialised packing—every order is hand-packed with sturdy boxes, inserts, and protective materials to keep seedlings secure.
  2. Express handling—live plants must travel fast; express services cost more than regular post.
  3. Perishable product—plants are living, requiring extra care, labour, and speed.
  4. Rising input costs—it hasn’t been a small CPI nudge; it’s a hefty leap:
    • Nursery staff wages
    • Substrates: peat, vermiculite, perlite
    • Seed prices (global)
    • Transport & freight
    • Water & fertiliser

These increases are not minor—they’re substantial. Ask our commercial farmers: some are dropping entire lines because it’s not worth harvesting when input costs soar but produce prices barely move.


When Did We Stop Free Delivery Over $50?

We offered free delivery over $50 in the past but ended this in September 2024. Courier, packaging, and nursery costs climbed steeply. Offering “free” delivery meant absorbing losses and—more importantly—risking plant quality. Flat-rate Express ensures every order gets the same careful treatment.


Dispatch Days (to avoid weekend hold-ups)

Mondays & Wednesdays only. This prevents plants from sitting at Australia Post over the weekend.

  • Orders placed from Wednesday afternoon through Sunday dispatch on Monday.
  • This keeps your plants moving on business days, not idling in depots.

Postage Options & Rates

Express Post — Live Plants (Seedlings)

  • Small Box (1–30 seedlings): $19.95
  • Medium Box (31–100 seedlings): $29.95
  • Large Box (200–400 seedlings): $49.95

Prices include Express shipping and careful packing/handling. For larger orders, we may split into multiple boxes to protect plants and weights.

Regular Post — Non-Perishables Only

Regular Post is available only for selected non-perishable items (e.g., certain accessories or dry goods). It is not available for live plants. Eligibility appears at checkout. If your cart includes live plants, the order will default to Express or be split into separate shipments/fees.

Free Pickup (Click & Collect) — $0

If postage isn’t for you, choose Free Pickup at checkout. It’s simple and costs $0:

  • Order online (no walk-ins). We’ll pack your order and notify you when it’s ready.
  • Pickup location: 52 Whites Road (BACK SHED), Werribee South, VIC 3030.
  • We may offer weekend pickups, but no entry to the nursery—please follow pickup instructions provided by our team.

Please Be Aware

While errors are rare, around 90% of the few issues we see are Australia Post errors (delays, misrouted or mishandled parcels). We pack and dispatch on time with the right materials—please don’t blame us for another company’s failure. If you’ve had issues with postage, Free Pickup ($0) is always available.

We love our grower community and we’re here to help. We also understand we can’t make everyone happy every time—but we’ll always try. Please keep interactions respectful; our team will always treat you with respect in return.

We’re a working farm & nursery with staff and bills to pay. We are not a charity. If you are not happy with any of our terms, policies, or prices, please do not place an order with us. You’re welcome to purchase elsewhere—Bunnings, Mitre 10, or, better yet, your local garden centre. Wherever possible, we encourage you to support local independents.

If postage doesn’t suit, use Free Pickup ($0), or consider these alternatives:

  • Save your own seed from previous crops; or
  • Buy retail seed packets and grow from scratch.

Online retail seedlings are a small part of what we do—our bread & butter is supplying commercial farms. We offer home-grower packs because we love sharing commercial-grade quality with the community.
