Victoria
Start sowing chilli seeds indoors in late winter or early spring (around August to September). Transplant the seedlings outdoors in late spring or early summer (around November to December) when the risk of frost has passed and soil temperatures are warmer.
South Australia
Similar to Victoria, sow chilli seeds indoors in late winter or early spring (around August to September) and transplant the seedlings outdoors in late spring or early summer (around November to December) when the soil has warmed up.
New South Wales
In cooler regions, follow the same advice as for Victoria and South Australia. In warmer regions of the state, you can start sowing chilli seeds directly outdoors in early spring (around September) and continue planting throughout the warm season.
Queensland
In subtropical areas, you can start sowing chilli seeds in late winter (around August) and transplant seedlings outdoors in early spring (around September). In tropical areas, sow seeds and transplant seedlings during the dry season (around April to September).
