Short answer? We grow them ourselves — with care, precision, and a deep respect for nature.

At MYCRO, we operate two purpose-built mushroom farms: one in Osborne Park, Western Australia, and the other in Ballarat, Victoria. These indoor growing environments are fully sealed from the outside world, allowing us to create the perfect conditions — what we proudly call a mushroom paradise.

Just like in a natural forest, our mushrooms thrive in cool, humid, and fresh air. It’s a delicate balancing act, managed through advanced climate control and powered by solar energy from rooftop panels. Every decision is guided by nature — and backed by science.

🌱 The Substrate (What Our Mushrooms Feed On)

We use an organic, all-Australian substrate that’s tailored to each species:

• Sawdust: A by-product of the local timber industry — always untreated and natural, because mushrooms are sensitive to chemicals.

• Lupin Hulls: Added for a boost of cellulose and nitrogen. Lupins grow naturally in sandy, low-input soils — making them one of the most sustainable crops in WA and across Australia.

We steam sterilise every substrate block to eliminate any unwanted microbes or moulds, then introduce grain spawn — think of it as the “starter culture” that kicks off the mushroom’s life cycle.

Each mushroom species has its own timeline. We mimic the natural seasons by moving the blocks through different climate zones — just like they'd experience in the wild. Some species take weeks. Others, months.
