Grow a rainbow for the kitchen with five colourful carrot seed packs: Rainbow Mix, Cosmic Purple, Atomic Red, Scarlet Nantes and Paris Market. Together they produce an exciting mix of purple, red, orange and red-orange roots in round, cylindrical and tapered shapes.

Grow them for the garden, but enjoy them on the plate — colourful salads, roast vegetables, BBQ carrots, grazing platters and fresh garden-to-table meals.

🌈 Rainbow Mix – 100+ Seeds
A colourful assortment of carrot shapes and colours for vibrant mixed plates.
💜 Cosmic Purple – 150 Seeds
Deep purple skin with a bright orange centre — spectacular when sliced.
❤️ Atomic Red – 150 Seeds
Coral-red to red-orange tapered carrots that bring rich colour to cooked dishes.
🧡 Scarlet Nantes – 100 Seeds
Sweet, crisp, smooth red-orange carrots for fresh eating and everyday cooking.
🟠 Paris Market – 100 Seeds
Small round orange carrots that look fantastic roasted whole or served halved.
🌱 Approx. 600+ Seeds
Plenty for colourful rows, repeat sowings and ongoing harvests.
🍴 Grow Colour – Then Put It on the Plate

Don't hide the different colours and shapes — make them the feature of the meal.

💜 Cosmic Purple: Slice into rounds or lengthways to reveal the purple skin and bright orange centre.

❤️ Atomic Red: Roast, grill or slice to bring deep coral-red and red-orange colour to the plate.

🟠 Paris Market: Roast these little globes whole or halve them so their unusual shape stays visible.

🧡 Scarlet Nantes: Sweet and crisp for raw vegetable plates, salads, roasting or everyday cooking.

🌈 Rainbow Mix: Combine several colours and shapes on one plate for an instant garden-to-table centrepiece.
🔥 Honey BBQ Carrots – Give Them a Little Char!

Carrots are brilliant on the BBQ. Cut larger roots lengthways, leave smaller carrots whole and lightly coat with olive oil, honey and a pinch of salt.

Grill until tender with a little colour and char around the edges. The slight caramelisation brings out their natural sweetness and gives the plate a great contrast between colourful centres and smoky edges.

Finish with cracked pepper, fresh herbs or a squeeze of lemon.

QPS plating tip: Mix whole Paris Market globes with long halved carrots, Cosmic Purple slices and red-orange roots. Different cuts, colours and a little char make a simple carrot dish look seriously impressive.
🥗 Brilliant Raw Too

🥕 Carrot ribbons: Use a vegetable peeler to create long colourful ribbons for salads.

🥕 Crunchy sticks: Serve several colours with hummus, dips and grazing platters.

🥕 Colourful rounds: Slice Cosmic Purple and Paris Market across the root to show off their colours and shapes.

🥕 Fresh slaw: Grate purple, red and orange carrots together for instant colour.

🥕 Garden snack: Harvest selected roots young, wash well and enjoy their fresh crunch.
👨🍳 More Ways to Plate Them Up

🔥 Roasted: Roast mixed carrots until tender with caramelised edges, then scatter with fresh herbs.

🍯 Honey glazed: Add a light honey glaze near the end of cooking for shine and sweetness.

🧈 Butter & herbs: Toss warm carrots with butter, parsley, dill or thyme.

🥗 Warm salad: Place roasted carrots over leafy greens with feta-style cheese, nuts or seeds.

🍽️ Plate like a chef: Leave some carrots whole, cut some lengthways and slice others into rounds. Using different cuts helps showcase the colour and shape of every variety.
🌱 Simple to Grow

Direct sow approximately 5 mm deep into loose, well-drained soil.

Keep the seedbed consistently moist while germinating and thin crowded seedlings as they develop.

Germination is approximately 14–21 days.

For longer carrots, remove stones and break up compacted soil so the root has a clear path downward.
🏆 QPS BEST CARROT PIPE YIELD OF THE YEAR
Think you can grow an absolute monster carrot?

Try growing one of your longer carrot varieties in a deep PVC pipe or other narrow vertical planter filled with loose, stone-free soil.

The idea is simple: create a deep column of soft soil and see just how far that carrot wants to travel!
📸 1. PLANT Take a photo when you plant your carrot seeds.
📸 2. BUILD Photograph yourself making or filling your PVC pipe or upcycled deep planter.
📸 3. HARVEST Take the big reveal photo when you finally pull your carrot!

🌈 PRIZE: A QPS MEGA PACK!
Show us all 3 stages of your grow — planting, planter build and harvest — and enter your carrot in the QPS Best Carrot Pipe Yield of the Year.

💜 Cosmic Purple, ❤️ Atomic Red and 🧡 Scarlet Nantes are fun longer varieties to experiment with.

How long can you grow yours? 🥕📏
♻️ No Pipe? Upcycle Something!

You don't need to buy a brand-new PVC pipe for the challenge. The goal is simply to make a deep container filled with loose, well-drained soil.

♻️ Reuse clean PVC or downpipe offcuts: Leftover pieces from another project can make great vertical carrot planters. Only use clean material with a known history — avoid pipe that has previously carried chemicals, oils, wastewater or other contaminants.

🪴 Old tall nursery pots: Deep tree pots are perfect for experimenting with long roots.

🪣 Repurpose a deep clean container: A suitable clean bucket or tall container can become a planter once adequate drainage holes are added.

👜 Reuse a tall grow bag: A deep grow bag provides plenty of root space without using rigid plastic.

🪵 Build a narrow timber planter: Create a tall planter from suitable untreated reclaimed timber.

🌱 Reuse before buying new: Look around the shed, nursery or garden first — you may already have something suitable that can be given a second life.

Whatever you use, make sure excess water can drain freely.
QPS Grower’s Tips

🥕 Think deep: Loose, stone-free soil gives longer carrot roots a much clearer path downward.

🚿 Keep germinating seed moist: Carrot seed is shallowly planted, so don't allow the seedbed to completely dry out.

✂️ Thin seedlings: Give each carrot enough room to develop without fighting its neighbours.

🌈 Grow separately, plate together: Plant varieties in labelled rows so you know what's growing, then bring all those colours back together when it's time to cook.

🔥 Don't fear a little BBQ char: Those caramelised edges can be delicious against the sweet carrot underneath.

📏 The pipe challenge is an experiment: A deep planter doesn't guarantee a record-breaking carrot — that's what makes seeing the final result so much fun!
