Wild rocket (also known as arugula or roquette) is a leafy green vegetable that is often used in salads, sandwiches, and as a garnish. It has a distinctive peppery and slightly bitter flavor that can add a zesty kick to dishes.

In addition to its culinary uses, wild rocket is also valued for its nutritional properties. It is high in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as folate, calcium, and iron. Some studies have also suggested that consuming rocket regularly may have health benefits, such as reducing the risk of certain types of cancer and promoting healthy digestion.

This species has a medium speed of growth and prefers a mild climate.

  1. Soil: Wild rocket prefers well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. It can tolerate a range of soil types, but it grows best in slightly alkaline soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0.

  2. Light: Wild rocket prefers full sun to partial shade, and it will grow best with at least six hours of direct sunlight per day.

  3. Temperature: Wild rocket is a cool-season crop that prefers moderate temperatures between 10 and 18 degrees. It can tolerate some heat, but it may bolt (produce flowers and go to seed) quickly in hot weather.

  4. Water: Wild rocket prefers consistently moist soil, but it is susceptible to root rot if the soil becomes waterlogged. It is best to water the plant deeply but infrequently to avoid overwatering.

  5. Nutrients: Wild rocket benefits from regular fertilization with a balanced fertilizer, especially if grown in containers. However, be careful not to over-fertilise, as this can cause the plant to produce fewer leaves and more flowers.

Overall, wild rocket is a relatively low-maintenance plant that can be grown in a variety of conditions, making it a great choice for home gardeners.
